For the last couple days I thought I was hearing a Chestnut-sided Warbler singing at our house. That surprised me because all the books show them as nesting much farther north. To make sure I as hearing it right Lorna and I went out and we were able to get great views of the bird today. That must mean they are nesting here.
The Birds of North America website at Cornell says: “Disparate populations also breed from extreme s. Illinois locally south through the Ozark Plateau of Missouri and Arkansas.” I’ve attached the range map from that website.
