It was a perfect day for the 30-people who came out this morning for the butterfly walk. We saw 25 different species of butterflies even though the overall number of butterflies is way down after last years drought. Most exciting for me was the tiny Juniper Hairstreak (Callophrys gryneus), the only green butterfly in Missouri. I’ve never seen one before. Click here for a few other snapshots from this morning, including a picture of the Juniper Hairstreak.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as we walked through the woodland edges and the prairies which were filled with wildflowers. I’ve never seen the PGT look better.
